Autumn Morning in the Flint Hills

This piece was painted on location along Silver Creek Road in the Kansas Flint Hills during a paintout with 9 other outstanding artists. The morning light was beautiful, enhancing the color and atmosphere of the layers of the landscape. The shapes of the buildings and silos of the Magathon farm in the distance on the right provided a nice balance to the tree on the left foreground. This piece will be included in an exhibition of Flint Hills paintings at Strecker Nelson Gallery in Manhattan, Kansas. The show will open on November 11th.
